Nursery Activites for Children

Our Mission

Building on ‘Every Child Matters’ (DfES 2004), we recognise that children are our future and we are forming the foundations for their future happiness.  At Brock House we appreciate that every child is individual, and by working in partnership with parents we hope to give children hope, enthusiasm, knowledge and understanding, confidence, self-respect, positive relationships, kindness and consideration for others, tolerance, and a zest for living.

Welcome to Brock House Day Nursery

Brock House day nursery is privately owned which offers high quality care alongside educational learning through play. We cater for babies as young as 3 months up to 5 years.

We aim to provide a homely, stimulating, nurturing, happy environment, allowing children to feel safe and confident and able to reach their maximum potential!

The nursery originally opened in 2008 and is situated in the village of Norton Fitzwarren, on the outskirts of Taunton.

The nursery consists of three rooms - Ducklings , Ducks & the Swans.

The Ducklings room is where our younger children aged 3 months - 2 years, engage in play and activities.

The Ducks room is where our 2-3 year olds engage in activities and play appropritae for their age and stage of development.

Our Swans room covers our oldest children aged 3-4 years, this is our pre-school room where we focus on getting our children ready for school.

We have our own kitchen where all our meals are prepared daily using fresh local produce, promoting a healthy nutritious diet. We also have opportunities for Sensory Exploration, a well equipped enclosed garden along with a sensory garden where children can spend time enjoying the space to develop their confidence, co-ordination and imagination.

We encourage the children to play outside whatever the weather. We consider the outside to be a ‘classroom without a roof.’ As well as extensive physical play, there is sand and water, a ‘mud kitchen’ and a ‘planting and growing area’ for the children to do their own gardening. Staff and children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum outside as well as inside.

We are fortunate enough to have an Early Years Teacher amoungst our team along with, a staff member currently studying for their Masters in Education! We have four Level 6 Practitioners, two members qualified at Level 5 and three members qualified at Level 4. All other staff members are fully qulified with a Level Two & Three, or training to acheive their Level 3. More information on our Team can be found on our 'Meet the Team' page Here

As a result of our recent Ofsted Insepction on 11th February 2020, we are proud to say that we were awarded 'Good' with 'Outstanding' elements.

Choosing a nursery for your child is such an important decision, at Brock House Day Nursery if you choose for your child to join us we endeavour to make the transition into nursery life as smooth as possible. Prior to children starting the nursery we offer play sessions, during which you and your child meet the keyworker; their connection with you and your child starts to form. During play sessions we will ask to complete an 'All About Me' pack, this focuses on your child's likes dislikes, interests and routines, therefore providing the key worker with valuable information, enabling your child to have the highest possible standard of care.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) which supports their steps from birth to reception class at Primary School.  We focus on child-initiated learning, and offer rich learning experiences through play involving toys, equipment and activities which inspire children on their personal, fun-filled learning journey.
