Where children can

learn and grow…

Welcome to

Brock House Day Nursery

Brock House Day Nursery is a privately owned nursery which offers high quality care alongside educational learning through play. We cater for babies as young as 3 months up to 5 years.

We aim to provide a homely, stimulating, nurturing, happy environment, allowing children to feel safe and confident and able to reach their maximum potential! The nursery originally opened in 2008 and is situated in the village of Norton Fitzwarren, on the outskirts of Taunton.

We recognise that children are our future and we are forming the foundations for their future happiness. At Brock House we appreciate that every child is individual, and by working in partnership with parents we hope to give children hope, enthusiasm, knowledge and understanding, confidence, self-respect, positive relationships, kindness and consideration for others, tolerance, and a zest for living. Learning Through Play: Indoor & Outdoor Activities at Brock House Day Nursery

We have our own kitchen where all our meals are prepared daily, promoting a healthy nutritious diet. We have a well-equipped outdoor space with four enclosed garden areas where children spend time enjoying the space to develop their confidence, coordination and imagination. It is a place to explore, discover and grow. There can truly be no replacement for the wonders that the great outdoors provide.

We encourage children to play outside whatever the weather. We consider the outside to be a ‘classroom without a roof.’ As well as extensive physical play, there is sand, a water wall, a mud kitchen and a planting and growing area for the children to do their own gardening. Along with a ‘fairy garden’. Staff and children follow the Curiosity Approach, outside as well as inside.

Engaging Young Minds

In all areas of the nursery, there is a book corner/quiet area, a role play area, as well as opportunities for construction, music, yoga, arts and crafts and puzzles and malleable play. We have a wide range of authentic resources and loose parts, and natural objects.

The staff team at Brock House are highly qualified and training is regularly updated. We are fortunate enough to have an Early Years Teacher in our team. We have four Level 6 Practitioners, two members qualified at Level 5 and three members qualified at Level 4. All other staff members are fully qualified with a Level Two & Three, or training to achieve their Level 3. More information on our Team can be found on our ‘Meet the Team’ page.

As a result of our Ofsted inspection in February 2020, we are proud to say that we were awarded ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ elements.

Choosing a Nursery

Choosing a nursery for your child is such an important decision, at Brock House Day Nursery if you choose for your child to join us, we endeavour to make the transition into nursery life as smooth as possible. Prior to the children starting the nursery, we offer play sessions, during which you and your child meet their keyworker, their connections with you and your child starts to form. During play sessions, we will ask you to complete an ‘All about me ‘ pack. This focuses on your child’s likes and dislikes, interests and routines. Therefore providing the keyworker with valuable information, enabling your child to have the highest possible standard of care.

We follow ‘The Curiosity Approach’. It is a modern day approach to Early Years taking parts from the theorists Reggio, Steiner, Te Whariki and Montessori and the Forest School theory. We focus on child-initiated learning, and offer rich experiences, learning through play. Using authentic resources and loose parts and child initiated activities which inspire children on their personal learning journey, bringing curiosity awe and wonder into early childhood.
