Yoga

We are delighted to be able to offer Yoga here at Brock house.

The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga is a healthy physical activity that enhances fine and gross motor skills, balance, core-strength, posture and flexibility.

Yoga enhances circulation and digestion, regulates sleep habits and keeps bones, muscles and joints healthy.

Yoga increases self esteem and emotional awareness.

Yoga also provide emotional management tools and teaches positive self-coping skills.

Yoga will be taking place within our rainbow room during the colder months and outside when the sun is shining. It will be taught in small groups of no more than 5 children to allow calmness and to encourage the children to stay focused and engaged. Yoga will be offered to the preschool children, therefore all the children will get to have a go as they move through into the Badgers room.

The children will be asked to bring in a change of clothes to take part in Yoga sessions, this helps in getting them ready for school where they will be expected to get changed independently for P.E sessions.

The children will also be asked to bring a bear with them, this will be there ‘breathing buddy’ that they will place on their tummies at the end of each session. The bear helps them to see the rise and fall of their tummies as they take deep breaths in and out.

The yoga sessions will be based around modern stories such as ‘The Gruffalo’ and traditional fairytales such as ‘The Three Little Pigs’ as well as learning short sequences of movements and working in pairs to create more trickier moves.
